About World Composting

Turning waste into wonder.

Welcome! I'm Newell Davis, and this is World Composting. My mission is simple: help people turn their food waste into something useful instead of sending it to a landfill. Whether you live in an apartment with no yard or have acres of land, there's a composting method that works for your space.

The Story

My first experience with composting goes back over 30 years. I had a simple compost pile in the backyard, driven by a desire to improve the terrible soil in my parents' yard so we could grow a vegetable garden. That early project planted a seed that never really went away.

In 2015, I started worm composting after moving into a place where traditional compost piles were banned. I wanted to reduce the amount of waste I was sending to the landfill, so I did some research and discovered vermicomposting. At the time, there were no good videos showing people how to actually set up and maintain a worm bin. So I grabbed my camera, started recording, and began sharing what I learned as I went along.

The channel grew from that desire to put real information out there and learn alongside everyone who watched. Every video is based on hands-on testing: what works, what doesn't, and why.

Presentations & Community Talks

Beyond the channel, I also give presentations on composting and food waste reduction for organizations, clubs, and community groups. If you'd like to invite me to speak at your next event, reach out through the YouTube channel or the World Composting website.

Why You Can Trust This Content

This isn't theory. Every recommendation, setup guide, and troubleshooting tip on this channel and website comes from real-world testing in my own composting systems. I've been running multiple worm bins for over a decade, experimenting with different species (Red Wigglers, European Nightcrawlers, African Nightcrawlers), trying new equipment, and sharing both the successes and the failures along the way.

The YouTube channel has grown to nearly 12,000 subscribers and features over 740 videos because people trust that what they see here is practical, tested, and honest. If something doesn't work in my bins, you'll hear about it too.

Join the Community

The World Composting community is a great place to share your own bin setups, ask questions, troubleshoot problems, and learn from other composters. Whether you're running your first worm bin or managing a fleet of tote systems, there's a place for you here.
